Using Footnotes to Augment Your Journal Entries

We've been getting a lot of questions from users wanting to add photos or links to their journal entries. If you haven't checked out the Getting Started tutorial, we definitely recommend reviewing the Help Center articles.

You can add photos, hyperlinks, scripture references, and quoted text easily. Currently, there is no way to add audio, video, or documents, but that is coming very soon. Out of curiosity, are there other types of Footnotes you would like to be able to add to your journal entries?

We're playing with the idea of adding 3rd party providers to our list of Footnotes and we think this will give users greater flexibility while making it easier to manage their journal. Let us know what you think.

i just signed up with ldsjournal, and i'm really excited to be using it. one of the things that excited me most was the footnotes feature (i tend to use a lot of parenthesis when i write & it gets overwhelming!). i may be missing something, but are the footnotes numbered? i think that would be helpful in keeping track of the references made...maybe by highlighting a specific word in the entry and then selecting footnotes could add the number reference to the footnote? when i published my entry i didn't notice anything in the text referring to the footnotes i made.

Our hope is to have Footnotes link directly to specific text from your journal entry. While this is not something we have working yet, we do plan on making this available in the near future. Thank you for commenting and letting us know that this feature is important to you.

Nick, you might consider a Facebook application that could clip things from Facebook to start a Footnoted journal entry. That could also promote to the Facebook community.
